Hi All,

Our competition class was excellent this weekend!!! A lot of our San Clemente and Dana Point students showed us for the class and Professor Flavio went over many closed guard techniques and drills. It was awesome to see our students training really hard to get their BJJ to the next level.

Braulio Estima Seminar

Professor Braulio Estima, Head Instructor of GB Birmingham, England, will be with us for a seminar on his favorite techniques. Professor Braulio is considered one of the best in the world today and his guard is among the best of all times. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet and learn from one of the best athletes and instructors GB has ever created. The seminar will be held at GBSC on Tuesday, February 9th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.. Space is limited to 40 spots and many of those are already taken, so hurry up and sign up!!!

Parents and Kids Class is Back this Saturday:

Our favorite class is back this month!!! Parents, you and your kids are invited to come train together on the mats in this super fun class January 30th at 9 am at GBSC! If you don’t have a uniform, please come early, so we can get you one! Please bring some healthy snacks so we can enjoy the potluck breakfast together after class!

Competition Class:

Professor Flavio will be teaching a competition class this Sunday from 11am to 1pm at GBDP. The class will focus on building an effective closed guard for competition and will have many great techniques and drills to make your closed guard very sharp. All students 13 years old and up are welcome to join us.

Special Women’s Class at GB America in Irvine:

GBSC/GBDP girls are invited to attend GB America’s monthly “Women’s Breakfast” this Saturday, January 30th at 10:00 a.m.  Professor Ana Laura will be teaching a special BJJ class and afterwards, there will be a nice breakfast at the school in Irvine. Please bring some healthy treats to share!

Student Cards / Visitor Cards:

Always remember to bring your attendance / visitors cards to class, so you get credit for the classes you attend. If there is a class missing on your card, talk to the coaches and let them know.

GB Uniform Etiquette:

At GB we pride ourselves on the uniforms we wear. They represent our team and it’s very important to keep them neat and clean. Don’t forget to always have a GB rash guard or black t-shirt on underneath.

Instructors Meeting:

Instructor’s Meeting this Friday, January 29th from 5 to 6 pm. All Coaches, Instructors and Assistant Instructors are invited to attend. Professor Flavio will go over some of the latest innovations being introduced to the Gracie Barra Programs and run a group dynamics brain storming session to get some feedback and suggestions about our classes. Hope to see you there!

Wild Weather Last Week:

Last week the weather was wild! Rain poured down, hail hit the ground, there was thunder and lightening in the sky and the wind rocked the school, but our students still came to BJJ! It’s so awesome to see how dedicated our students are to GB and the beautiful art of BJJ! Seeing all the moms run across the parking lot in the rain to get their kids to Jiu Jitsu was so cool! Thank you to all of you for your support. Rain, sleet or snow Jiu Jitsu here we go!!!!

No GI Training:

Starting this week, we will have lots of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu No Gi training at GB San Clemente and GB Dana Point. Saturdays from 11 am – 1 pm, Professor Otavio Sousa will be teaching at GBDP. On Mondays nights we are replacing our conditioning class at GBSC with a BJJ No GI Training session from 8 pm – 9 pm and 30 minutes No Gi live training from 9 to 9.30pm.

SURF’S UP IS CANCELLED FOR THIS SUNDAY!!!

Due to the current weather and polluted surf conditions, we are going to cancel this Sunday’s GB Surf Session and reschedule it for another time.  We will keep you posted!

Rape Safe Class:

We have a new set of self defense techniques going for girls. In the last Rape Safe class we explored the “butterfly guard” as  key self defense tool against sexual assaults. The Rape Safe classes are happening at Gracie Barra San Clemente every other sunday from 9 to 10 in the morning. This Sunday we will have BJJ Conditioning for the girls.

No Gi Class:

Our new day for the No Gi class is going to be every Saturday at GB Dana Point starting at 11:00, with live training afterwards.
