Gracie Barra San Clemente

The GBA STAFF received that outstanding message bellow, and we felt like sharing with all of you:

Dear Professor Marcio,

Two weeks ago on August 8th, me and a few others from Gracie Barra in Irvine competed in the 5th Annual OTM BJJ Tournament. We all did good and I ended up getting a silver medal thanks to my Gracie Barra brothers who supported and guided me through each one of my matches. And while the outcome was good it was the camaraderie shared between us that made it great. But it wasn’t just the camaraderie shared between the guys in the Irvine school, but all the Gracie Barra schools around the area. It was cool to see guys, with the Gracie Barra gi on, walking around and greeting each other even if we haven’t met and looking like we all already knew each other. And while the Irvine guys feel like brothers, a girl from Professor Flavio’s school in San Clemente put it in perspective, when she introduced herself before my match and said, “Even though you’re from Irvine and I’m from San Clemente, when I see someone representing Gracie Barra I feel like they are
family, and you’re like my cousin.” Then she wished me good luck. And that vibe carried on throughout the whole tournament as we stayed for all the Gracie Barra students’ matches and cheered until everyone was done competing for the day.

That is a family.

Parents and Kids Class:

The Parents and Kids class went really well!  We had over 50 students on the mats for lots of training and fun!!  We have these classes once a month, so don’t miss the next one!  

GBSC Competition Team:

The GBSC Competition Team is training hard for the Nationals!  Besides all regular classes, GBSC has one more competition class scheduled before the Nationals.  It is this Saturday from 11am to 1pm.  Keep in mind that great training is also going on at our Head Quarters in Irvine, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11am to 1pm.  You are all welcome to join the rest of the GB Team at these classes, in our preparation for the Nationals!

Labor Day Holiday Special Class:

GBSC will have a special All Levels Class on Monday, September 7th, from 10am to 11.30am. All students aged 13 years and up are welcome to join us.  All other classes are canceled.

Our Monthly Calendar has been updated:

Main events this month are our Labor Day class, the GBSC Parents Breakfast, and competition classes.  Stay tuned for more information!!!

What a Blast we all had Saturday morning!!!! Our Little Champions came to the P&K (Parents and Kids) Class full of energy and ready to train with mom and dad. The class was really fun and we all had a great time!!!

The interaction between parents and their kids is a must on this class and we are all looking forward for the next one.

Fall Schedule:

It’s BJJ Non Stop!  The final schedule is up!  With classes 7 days a week, the new schedule looks awesome and is well balanced with over 40 hours of classes on mornings, afternoons, and evenings every week!!  Thanks to everyone for their great suggestions and ideas!  Check it out on http://www.graciebarrasanclemente.com/schedule_fall_09.php

Women’s Program:

Women’s Program: Don’t forget!! This Sunday from 9am to 10am we will go back to our Women’s BJJ Conditioning class! Don’t miss it!! The work out is tough, fun, and very rewarding!!!

Competition Class:

Getting ready for the US Nationals: Prof. Flavio has scheduled 1 more competition class to help our students prepare for the US Nationals! It will be next Saturday, September 5, 2009 from 11am to 1pm!

Labor Day Holiday:

GBSC will have a special class on Monday, September 7th, due to the Labor Day holiday. It will be an All Levels Class from 10 to 11am followed by 30 minutes live training. All the other classes are canceled.

We are having our famous parents and kids class on Aug. 29th from 9 am to 10m. It is so much fun to see our kids and our adults training with each other! What better way then to spend it with your kids or your parents doing Jiu Jitsu at Gracie Barra. Here are some pictures. Can’t wait to see you all there!
