Last Week at GBSC…

Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship

This past weekend was the Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship one of the largest tournaments of the year.  It was packed with competitors from all over the world. It was great to see our Gracie Barra families from around the world. The competition was tough with over 2500 competitors and in many brackets having over 100 athletes.   It’s great to see the sport grow and to see so many BJJ practitioners all at the event testing their skills.

Our GBSC Competition team was there putting their techniques to use, they trained hard and as Professor Flavio would say, “You either Win or Learn”.   We would also like to thank our GBSC Family for your support at the tournament it helped everyone push through and do their best !!

This Week At GBSC…

UFC at OC Tavern Wednesday 4/1

This Wed. Ricardo Almieda, Prof. Flavio’s brother will fight in the UFC. We are all getting together to celebrate both his fight and the Pan Championship. We hope to see you all there!

Due to this event we will have an all levels class from 7:00-8:00pm and from 7:30-8:00 sparing session.

After we will all head over to OC Tavern in San Clemente.

Buddy Week 4/6-4/12

As you all may know Pan Jiu Jitsu Championship is this weekend.  Many of our students will be competing and our fellow team members are planning to support them.  We will try to reserve a spot so we can all sit together.

Per our students request we will have regular schedule classes on Saturday and an All Levels Class Sunday from 10:00am to 11:00am

Gracie Barra Family gets stronger in OC: GB Chino Hills is ready!

We are working hard to spread the word of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the Gracie Barra Life Style in Orange County. The GB Schools are already well represented in Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Garden Grove, Cerritos, Yorba Linda, Santa Ana, San Clemente and Irvine.

The next community in Orange County to benefit from the  GB Life Style will be Chino Hills and the classes will start on April 1st. The GB Black Belt and No Gi World Champion 2008 Rafael Oliveira will be the School’s Head Instructor.

Last Week at GBSC….

Assistant Instructors Graduation

On Saturday our Assistant Instructors Pesh, David, Charles, & Pete graduated to Coaches.

It was a special event for each of them and a milestone here at our school.

Each one of the Coaches worked very hard and dedicated themselves to the art and to GBSC.

We are very happy and proud to have such Coach’s on the Mat and as part of our Team!

GBSC Visits Laguna Beach High School

On Friday GBSC visited Laguna Beach High to spread the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to the teens.

We worked with the Girl’s Night Out, a club at the high school composed of all girls who get together to hang out and learn new things.

With College coming soon for a few of them they will now have some tools in their toolbox in the form of BJJ.

On Friday we also started part 2 of Training with the Laguna Beach High School Football team.

It was nice to see some the guys from last summer and some new faces.  We are looking forward to another successful season with football  team and Coach Johnathan.

Woman’s Program going strong

Well girls we are in week 2 of our Woman’s Program.  It is exciting to see all the girls train hard, sweat, and learning the techniques of BJJ.  We are offering classes every Tuesday, Thursday, & Sunday from 9:00am-10:00am.  All girls are welcome !!

All Levels Mondays and Wednesdays Class from 7am to 8am

Sparring Session from 8am to 8.30am

Our spring schedule brings many great improvements and more classes to our students. One of the most requested changes was to have a early morning class starting at 7am and now we have it! This will be an All Levels class that can be joined by all students. White belt 3 stripes and up can join the 30 minutes sparring session that will be from 8.00am to 8.30am.

Let’s all start our day on the best way possible. Training Jiu-Jitsu!!!!!!

Come to support and congratulate our graduating Coaches this Saturday, March 21st

This upcoming Saturday, Gracie Barra San Clemente will be hosting an event that no one can miss. We will have an special All Levels Class from 10am to 11am with 30min Live Training afterward. Then at 11.30am  some of our dear assistant instructors that help us so much will be graduating from our instructor’s program.

The assistant instructors are students from GB San Clemente that have expressed their desire to go beyond being a student and took the challenge of teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as seriously as their own training. They have been subjected to many hours of training are will be completed all the requirements to become coaches of our school.
