A New Addition to the Gozales and GB San Clemente Families

The Gonzales have made Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) one of the most important activities of their lives. Driven by the passion of the father, Richard Gonzales, for fighting and martial arts, the whole family gets together several times a week to practice and study BJJ. This family is actually a key element of the Gracie Barra San Clemente path, as Richard and his two daughters, Alyssa and Ariana, have been with us since before we opened our doors. This already big family has recently had a new baby, Gabriel, who will for sure be training with us to become a champion in a few years. Congratulations Richard and Tina, you guys have a beautiful family and inspire us all!!!img_9781_jpg.jpgimg_9778_jpg.jpgimg_9732_jpg.jpgcimg0245.jpgcimg0248.jpg

Gracie Barra and Law Enforcement training

Gracie Barra and Law Enforcement training

Professor Brian Davis of Gracie Barra Arkansas had the opportunity to teach some valuable techniques to local, state and out of state Law Enforcement Officers attending the first Basic Swat School Training camp in Batesville Arkansas.

Professor Brian was invited to teach a 4 hour seminar to the group to better prepare SWAT Team officers for close quarters combat where leathal force was not necessary, allowing officers to subdue and defuse potential threats by employing effective techniques in a situation where deploying their weapons would not be required.

With his military background and use of applicable Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques, Professor Brian was able to give the SWAT officers numerous options to use to safely complete their mission and return home safe from their jobs.

Great job Professsor!

Here are some cool pictures from the training

The Dojo

“A Dojo is a miniature cosmos where we make contact with our selves – our fears, anxieties, and reactions.

It is an arena of confined conflict where we confront an opponent who is not an enemy but rather a partner engaged in helping understand ourselves more fully.

It is a place where we can learn a great deal in a short time about who we are and how we react in the world.

The conflicts that take place in the Dojo help us handle conflicts that take place outside.

The total concentration and discipline required to study martial arts carries over to daily life. The activity in the Dojo calls on us to constantly attempts new things, so it is a source of learning or enlightenment”
