Our First MMA Class

Last Saturday, Gracie Barra San Clemente students experienced their first MMA Class. Part of the school’s black belt program, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) class was created to allow students to further develop their game by learning how to apply BJJ techniques on an eventual MMA fight. They learn advanced boxing drills, together with wrestling and  greco roman techniques for clinches and take downs. Everything is practiced with the focus on taking the fight to the ground, so they can work on submissions attacks.

This first class was amazing and we all had so much fun on a very intense and enjoyable training session. The class was kept very safe and clean as professor always puts the emphasis on the techniques and remembers the students to avoid dangerous paths.

Thansk to our dear student Mike Pesh, we have some amazing shots from the MMA Class. Enoy it!!!

Throws and Mount Attack: GBSC Advanced Class

The advanced classes are getting good at Gracie Barra San Clemente. It is amazing to see how the students are progressing and becoming much more knowledgeable of the two areas we are studying this week: one hand shoulder throw and attacking from the mount. Tuesday night we had also a great BJJ No Gi Class and students could see how easily we can adapt thee gi techniques into the no gi techniques. Remember, next saturday at 11am we will have our first BJJ for MMA Class. If you are a student of the black belt program, don’t miss it!

Kids Class: Jiu-Jitsu, Discipline and Fun!!!

It is amazing to see how easy kids learn Jiu-Jitsu techniques. It is even more impressive how much they love it. Our last kids class was so much fun and Kids, Assistant Instructors, and Professor Flavio had all a great time. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a great activity for kids to learn how to defend themselves, becoming more confident and focused. It also develops body awareness and a great discipline. And the part of it: all the kids have lots of fun.

Enjoy the Pictures!

Our No Gi Training Starts Next Tuesday

One of the most popular modalities of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu today is the No-Gi, or Submission Grappling. At Gracie Barra San Clemente, we have planned No Gi Training sessions for the future. Due to the high demand and interest from students already enrolled on our Black Belt Program, we will start our No-Gi classes sooner then we thought: next Tuesday (02/12/2008) at 7.30pm.

Check below some pictures of Prof. Flavio competing at the ADCC - World Submission Grappling Championship las year:

GB Little Champs

The GBSC Kids Program is starting at full speed. Our first class will be this Wednesday at 5pm and we are all very excited. Gracie Barra San Clemente is proud of having so many kids enrolled on its early days and this confirms our belief that we will have a very strong and solid group of kids training and having fun while studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Soon we will be opening our Parents & Kids Classes on Saturday mornings and this will be a great time for Families to learn and have lots of fun together.

Tale a look at some pictures from the GB little champs training at Gracie Barra San Clemente:

Our First Fundamentals Class

We all had a great time last night during our first class. It was nice to see the students so committed to their Jiu-Jitsu by demonstrating a great attitude towards their learning. They all had their minds pen to the techniques being taught and did a great job performing each one of them. Remember guys, tonight we will review them all and starting tomorrow we will move forward with the curriculum by teaching different tecniques.

The Fundamentals Program was designed to allow a new student to learn the basic Jiu-Jitsu moves and for the more experienced students to revisit the foundations of their games and fill and remaining gaps. Master Carlos Gracie Jr. was very carefull on the techniques he choose to make sure after four months of training all students have a complete and solid basic knowledge on all BJJ Fundamentals.

Enjoy the Journey!

Below pictures of Professors Marcio and Flavio demonstrating some of the techniques that are part of our BJJ Fundamentals Program
